Long Row ..Part 6

Welcome Back!!  This is it!    This is the last week  to hit my deadline.  The goal started out,  losing 20 pounds and gaining my sobriety.  I started "Long row to hoe" at 153 lbs and drinking regularly. Where am I now, six weeks later?  I'm 136lbs and drinking on the weekend, so it seems.   This week, I did better on the diet, then the sobriety.   I could tell you, I was celebrating my success as a parent.    Maybe that I was pressed,  by an enabler.  Those would be excuses.  No excuses!!  I drank!  I enjoyed BBQin' with friends and had some drinks.  Did I get trashed?  Nope!  Am I proud, of where I am?  Indeed!!
I wasn't sure that I would make it,  June the 7th,  seemed so far away.  I do have to mention, dress shopping, felt great!  It was nice to put on a dress and look good.  To go from a size Large to a size medium,  is priceless.

I'm going to continue this journey, It's not over .   I still have 3 days to lose 3lbs. I truly want to hit this goal.  Next week, I plan to post my before and after picture.  To continue blogging updates,  In hopes I'll keep the weight off and the drinking to a minimum.   I might even try to lose another 10lbs.... We shall see.

Long Row ...Part 5

Word of the week, Discouraged!!   I'm so discouraged,  my loss this week.... 2 pounds and half an inch.  I have 8 pounds to lose, to hit my goal.  I'm starting to think, It's not going to happen.  I only have TEN days.  I thought maybe, I would get close and be ok with that result.  I can't say I've ONLY lost 12 pounds because,  that is great.   however, It took me 5 weeks to lose that 12 pounds.   I know this week and next, I'll be pushing myself at the gym.  I didn't try the red wine vinegar trick,  I may pick some up today and start that.  I think,  I'm also discouraged because,  I had someone ask me, " Are you seeing results,  from not drinking?"    I guess, I'm the only one to notice my weight loss.  It makes me want to eat an entire red velvet cake.  alright,   Not really.

Saturday,  I went out for a friends birthday, I had a couple drinks. I drank, scotch and diet soda. which is still sticking to the diet.  I read,  on this diet you can have Scotch, rye, vodka. With a non- sugar drink,  NO JUICE.  You' re also allowed red wine,  in moderation,  of course.  I can't say that,  I'm at the social drinker status.  But I have to pat myself on the back. I'm doing better then I thought, in that area.

Long row... part 4

Here I am,  two weeks from my deadline.  My goal is to lose 20lbs by June 7th. As well as keep my sobriety. Unfortunately, I feel like I'm stuck. The last two pounds, I lost was last week.  I'm not sure to add more vegetables,  or cut out more carbs.   The carbs, I am taking in are from Ranch dressing, I keep it under two teaspoons.   I'm eating more of the same things.  Hot dogs with mustard,   For dinner, Meat i.e. Pork chop, steak, chicken.  with salad. I drink, nothing but water with Mio.  I do sneak a little peanut butter, now and again.  Believe me, it's not enough to make a difference.   I'm jogging a mile at least 3 to  4 times a week, along with inclined sit-ups.

The Upside!!  I'm doing better with my sobriety, then I am with my diet.  Which is great!!
I really don't think much about drinking, I guess because I'm so focused on losing this weight. June 7th is  an important day to me, I want to look great,  as well as feel great.  Though, I can't say,  on said day,  I wont have a couple cocktails.  However,  I hope to keep it to a minimum. I hope that I can do it. If I feel I can't, I just wont drink.  Easier said then done, right?  I just hope that I don't go back to, where I was. Eating the same bad foods, the same bad habits, and drinking each night.

Before I bring myself down.  I need to focus on these last 10lbs. I would love tips. :)
I have been told to drink, red wine vinegar with water, anyone else heard of that?   I haven't tried it yet.  Though, I think I will start that, this Friday,  and report back.

" A Long row... part 3

Here we are again, yet another week has pasted us by.  Time to report my week.  I'm pretty reluctant to say .... Saturday and Sunday,  I did have a couple drinks.  I had one and a half drinks, Saturday and, Four drinks Sunday.  I know,  I didn't FAIL,  though,  I did trip up.  It's only been two weeks. How could I give in so easy?  Shame on me,  I know.

Saturday,  I was at a party,  the only one,  not drinking.  I had one shot of Patron,  a half of Margarita Crystal Light & Patron.  Something, I can have on the diet.  So I didn't break my diet,  just my sobriety.  Lame,  I know!  If it's worth it,  I felt guilty.

Needless to say, I'm still on the diet.  I wasn't sure,  I was going to lose anything this week.   I checked so often, My husband said, he was going to take the batteries out of the scale.  Lately I've been, longing for baked goods. not so much bread,  as much as, I yearn for cake.   I'm still on target for the 20lb loss.  This week,  I lost another 4 pounds and  2inches.  12 more pounds to go.  3 more weeks, to do it.

I hope that all the Mom's ( in some cases, Dad's),  had a wonderful Mother's Day.  I sure did!!  I woke to Cheese omelets, sausage and bacon.  as well as the best gifts and so much love.
So, Without further ado..

'A long row ..part 2

If  you read my prior blog, 'A long row to hoe'. You read that I was starting a new diet,  as well as,  My sobriety.   We all have struggles and this is mine.   Stated,  May 30th 2012, without a hitch.  I have craved a lot of sugar, as I told you I would.    For my craving for sweetness,  I drink MioEnergy Black Cherry - there are no sugars nor carbs.  That really helps.  I drank the water I needed,  and got a sweet fix,  plus you are going to need your energy.  Only eating these foods, changes your body.  I would say that you feel a little sluggish at first.
Also,  in my  prior blog, I posted what I was consuming, I felt this was a bit redundant.  It's Proteins .. Meat ..cheese..salad.. .water.  If you need a better guide follow the Atkins for do's and don't.  I'm not completely on the Atkins per say,  I'm not eating Vegetables yet.  for instance,  I am able to have raw cauliflower,  instead,  I'm staying away from these for now.  sticking to the meats.. cheese  and salads.  With these,  I still get the carbs. I plan to continue  this until , May 14th depending on my total loss,  If these pounds and inches continue to decline, I may very well stay with it.
Let's talk sobriety.  Maybe the first and second day, I was a little anxious.  I want to say this before I go any further.   If  you want to stop drinking,  I would say to see a doctor, They may help with anxiety,  after all most of us drink,  to mask a bigger issue.   Careful on the disclosure,  I have heard of case, where a doctor, had a  Patients  drivers licence suspended,  because he said, he was a heavy drinker.  Not everyone drinks and drives. That's another story.

How did I do, in my first week of sobriety?
I would have to say,  pretty damn good!   As I told you before,  yes! The first couple of day were hard,  then things got a little easier.  Once the weekend came it got a little tougher, It was Cinco de Mayo, this weekend,  though I'm not Hispanic, (I don't think I am anyway, another story, HAA!)  I love to enjoy every Holiday, St. Paddy's ( I am Irish) You name It,  I cook for the occasion and drink accordingly, too.   Not so much , this year.
However,  for those of you who don't "NEED" to stop drinking and  follow for the diet only, there are drinks you are able to drink.  Crystal Light and a clear liquor. ..just sayin'.
Wait two week in before drinking.

Alright back to the lecture at hand.  This weekend, I attended a get together, Yes people were drinking,  I did feel the need to have a drink,  I didn't!   I want to say this, though  I had my patience pushed to the limit this weekend.  I was starting to rethink this sobriety shit!! I was thinking,   I may want to continue living in oblivion,  It's either that or catch a few assault charges.  Rather then crackin' the bottle (There is no whiskey in my home, this helps)  and start drinking.  Of course, I didn't, I simply removed myself for the situation.  Works great!!

An Honest One!

I've learned over the years, that having some drinks,  I become oblivious to statements made to me or about me.   Being sober,   I've learned,  though they my all not be nice.  It's alright, Not everyone is going to love me.   More importantly, I have patience.  I can appreciate, an honest opinion.  Not everyone is going to give you that, either.

Long row to hoe

Today's the day!!

I'm going to start  a diet and share,  my journey... which will include,  my sobriety.
This has been,  my biggest struggle.  I'm a whiskey drinker.. Straight up!  I wont go into,  the extent of,  my drinking.  I will tell you,  it isn't healthy... Duh,  right!?!   Some understand, some don't,  when it comes to,  addiction.  I watched my father,  die of  alcoholism.  He was only, forty-seven,  years old.  That would only give me,  eleven years of life.  I'm not,  ready for that.

I was able to stop drinking,  for about three months. It was hard, but it happened.
With diet and BOOT CAMP training,  twice a day.  I was able to drop 25lbs (not sure the number of inches, all over.)   I went from a size 16 to a size 7.  Unfortunately,   I went right back to eating, whatever I wanted and,  drinking everyday.

I'm hoping that blogging,  will help me , stick with it.  I understand that, this needs to be, a lifestyle change.   Think about it,  I changed my lifestyle, to what I am,  today!  Why can't I  change back?
Until I was twenty-seven years old.   I was a size 0-2  I was never more then 120lbs.  I'm 5'1" 1/2 inches tall,  so 120lbs is considered over weight.  *cough* Bullshit *cough*

From High School on,  I was very active.   I was able to run a mile in 5.13.   Took advanced Weights class. I had 6% body fat.  You , get the point.    After having my children,  I was able to snap,  right back.  I understand,  my metabolism was faster, I was younger.  That just means,  I need to work harder.  If anyone,  wants to take this journey,  with me.  That would be,  fabulous!  I would love support,  hints, help in any way.  The Goal,  is to get my life back, and look great,  doing it.

My Diet,  will consist of protein,  wait..  just for the first,  seven days. also,  No Sugar!!  We can eat all the Salad,  we want. No carrots,  in that salad.   Check your dressing,  remember no Sugars.    On the seventh day, we will start vegetables. Similar to,  the Atkins Diet.  Not feeling,  this Diet?   Then find,  the diet that best, suits you.
I'm going to drink water or Crystal lite, when I need something sweet. Which, I will!!

I  do,  go to the gym about, three to four times,  a week.   Twenty minutes on the elliptical.   I hit the weight room,  alternating arms and legs,  every other day.

I'll post My Stats , diet and exercise.  At some point,  post a photo, of my before.  I'm a little reluctant I must say.  So... who's with me?    Alright, here I go....

My current weight is 153lbs

In need of restraint...

Unfortunately,  My Seventeen year old son,  is teetering with adulthood.  So,  he thinks!!  Pushing every button he can, with me.   All because,  I don't allow him to, "act inappropriately" and, drive my car.  Everyone is doing it and, apparently every one's parents,  allow them to do it,  too.

 Dear Parents,
Your children are going to fuck up, on their own.  You don't need to,  push it.  You don't need to supply, them with anything.  Don't throw your hands in the air and,  give up.  If you are, or if you do, You're parenting wrong. I'm not saying,  I'm going to win,  Mother of the Year. Nor,  do I have all the answers.  Though I do know,  It's the wrong decision.  It would also make my job of Parenting,  a little easier.

                                                  Thank you,  XOXO
